Oh, kiddo. We have our ups and downs. That's life. Tonight? It was an "up" kind of a night.
When I was really little, my father (your grandfather) would play the guitar and sing "You Are My Sunshine" to me at bedtime. It's one of my favorite childhood memories.
So when you were a baby and you had that horrible case of acid reflux, I would sing you the same song over and over. Aside from the Zantac, it was the only thing that ever seemed to calm you down. This evolved into our go-to song whenever you'd get a boo boo or would get upset. Lately, it's the song you've wanted me to sing to you at bedtime.
Tonight, at Aunt Liz and Seth's rehearsal dinner they played "You Are My Sunshine." When you realized what song it was, we began singing it to each other.
The very best part of my night, though, was in the car on the way home. You sang that song to me over and over again. When you were done singing to me to you said, "Mommy, that was for you. That's our special song." That meant so much to me, sweetie. My heart, it's bursting.
